Pensio Terms of Service

Version 1.0.0 — Effective Date: April 13, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Pensio (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

These terms form a binding agreement between you and Pensio. “We”, “us”, and “our” refer to Pensio. “You” refers to the individual or entity using the Service.

2. Description of Service

Pensio is a mobile application that helps you track and understand your spending. You can upload photos of invoices and receipts, or paste text, and our AI pipeline (combining OCR and large language models) extracts structured data: vendor names, line items, amounts, and categories.

That extracted data is stored and used to surface spending patterns, trends, and insights over time.

3. Account Registration

You can register using an email address and password, or through a supported OAuth provider (Google, Facebook, or Apple).

You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must provide accurate information when registering. One account per person — don’t create accounts on behalf of others without their knowledge.

If you become aware of any unauthorized access to your account, contact us at [email protected] immediately.

4. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activity that occurs under it.

5. User Obligations

When using Pensio, you agree not to:

6. Intellectual Property

Your data is yours. The invoice and receipt data you upload, and the structured extractions derived from it, belong to you. We don’t claim ownership over your financial records.

Our platform is ours. Pensio’s software, AI models, user interface, and the aggregated anonymous market insights we derive from de-identified data are our intellectual property. You may not copy, redistribute, or build competing products using our platform or outputs.

7. Data Processing

When you upload an invoice or receipt, our AI pipeline processes it to extract structured information. This processing may use locally hosted models or, as a fallback when local models are unavailable, external AI services.

How we handle your data, what we store, and how we protect it is described in detail in our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Service Availability

We aim to keep Pensio running reliably, but we don’t guarantee uptime or availability, particularly on the free tier. The Service is provided on a best-effort basis.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features or the Service as a whole. When possible, we’ll give advance notice of significant changes. We’re not liable for losses resulting from downtime or service changes.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Pensio is not liable for:

Nothing in this clause limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything that can’t be excluded under New Zealand law.

10. Termination

If you terminate: You can delete your account through the app. Within 30 days, your personal invoice associations (the encrypted link between your identity and your invoice data) will be permanently deleted. Anonymous, de-identified commercial data derived from your invoices has no link to you and remains in our aggregate dataset.

If we terminate: We’ll give you reasonable notice unless termination is due to a serious breach of these terms. You’ll have an opportunity to export your data before deletion.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we’ll give at least 30 days notice via email or an in-app notification. Continuing to use the Service after that notice period means you accept the updated Terms.

If you don’t agree with a change, you can delete your account before the new terms take effect.
